Things to Do
With 70 castles, that’s more than in any other English county, Northumberland is both beautiful and yet still surprisingly unspoilt. Market towns such as Alnwick, Hexham and Yarm attract visitors for their charm with the magical Alnwick Gardens a must-see. The Romans left their very distinctive mark on the county and Hadrian’s Wall along with fort and settlement sites are a fascinating reminder of long ago times. Early Christian settlers were in abundance and their legacy is found throughout the North East from Durham Cathedral to Lindisfarne Abbey.
The region is culturally diverse with a never ending list of things to do.
