A background to our locally sourced stone

At Bondgate Homes we take pride in using quality locally sourced materials for our properties including all our stone-built homes, which are built using sandstone sourced from Darney Quarry near Hexham, Northumberland.

The historical meaning behind ‘The Kilns’

When it came to naming our newest development ‘The Kilns’ in Beadnell, inspiration came easily with the presence of an 18th century limekiln on the site.

At Bondgate Homes, we are keen to preserve and promote unique heritage assets; this historic limekiln is being carefully conserved, retaining the unique and historical character of the site.

This limekiln originally produced quicklime for spreading on fields around Beadnell to improve crops and pasture, as well as a potential supply of lime for building locally.

Houses complete at luxury development in Lesbury

Bondgate Homes has successfully completed the sale of all five properties at its first ever development. The newbuild houses were sold all off plan within less than 12 months of coming to the market, giving a good indication of the current strength of the housing market in the area.

Construction at the Carter Dene development in the picturesque village of Lesbury, near Alnwick, began in 2019, with the first properties completed in September. October saw the first of the new owners move in.

Construction commences at Beadnell development

Building work has begun on a ground-breaking housing development which seeks to revitalise a rural community by restricting sales of the new homes to primary residence buyers.

The scheme, which is a Bondgate Homes development, is located in the picturesque village of Beadnell on the north Northumberland coast.

The development, which has been named “The Kilns” due to the presence of historic lime kilns on the site, will include 45 new-build houses in a mix of styles of which nine will be affordable housing reserved for local residents.
